  • Djordje Mihailovic, Brandon Vazquez, James Sands, Jess Ferreira, Bryan Reynolds, Gianluca Busio, and Cade Cowell are the seven starters who are 24 years old or younger.
  • The starting lineup also makes an average of 11 official competition appearances and 16 caps.
  • B.J. Callaghan, the head coach of the USMNT, substitutes defender Aaron Long, forwards Cade Cowell and Brandon Vazquez for the starting XI against Canada on Wednesday.
  • Brandon Vazquez will make his first start of the tournament tonight in his native San Diego after becoming the first USMNT player to score three goals while serving as a substitute during the Gold Cup.
  • Cade Cowell (June 28 vs. St. Kitts and Nevis), making his second appearance of the tournament, joins Aaron Long (June 24 vs. Trinidad and Tobago) as the fourth-youngest starter for the USMNT in a Gold Cup Knockout Round game.

  • Only two players—Jess Ferreira and James Sands—started each of the Concacaf Gold Cup's five games.
  • Sands joins an exclusive group of USMNT players who have appeared in 11 straight Gold Cup games. The midfielder, who came on as a substitute in his Gold Cup debut against Haiti on July 11, 2021, has started each of his previous 10 Gold Cup games.

  • Goalkeeper Matt Turner, who will serve as the team's captain for the fourth time tonight, will play in his 10th Gold Cup match, tying Tony Meola for third place all-time among USMNT goalkeepers in the confederations championship.
Turner surpasses Meola for third place among USMNT goalkeepers after making his eighth appearance in a knockout round game. The 29-year-old has a 5-1-1 record with five clean sheets in games played in the knockout rounds.

  • For the second time tonight, Aaron Long and Miles Robinson partner up in the center of the defense. Previously, the two collaborated on the 7-0 victory over Trinidad and Tobago on January 31, 2021 in Orlando.
  • Six players have played against Panama before: Gianluca Busio, Jess Ferreira, Miles Robinson, and Matt Turner each have one match appearance; Aaron Long and Djordje Mihailovic have two.
  • On January 27, 2019, at Glendale, Arizona, the USMNT defeated Panama 3-0, and Djordje Mihailovic made his debut, scoring his first goal for his country. On March 27, 2022, in Orlando, Jess Ferreira scored his first goal in a match against Los Canaleros. It came in the 27th minute of the team's 5-1 victory in the World Cup Qualifying match.
  • Five starters have participated in semifinal games before. Both the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup semifinal against Qatar and the 2023 Concacaf Nations League semifinal against Canada included Miles Robinson and Matt Turner. In the 2021 semifinal match against Qatar, Gianluca Busio and James Sands also participated, while Aaron Long played in the 2019 Gold Cup Semifinal match against Jamaica.
  • Jalen Neal, 19, would tie Mike Windischmann for the most USMNT appearances by a young center defender if he came off the bench tonight (6 caps).
  • Three distinct times during regulation allow for a total of five substitutions. Halftime is not a moment for substitution. If there is a draw after 90 minutes of play, there will be two 15-minute overtime sessions, during which both sides may make one more substitute. Penalty kicks will be used to determine the game if the sides are deadlocked at the end of extra time.
  • In actual competition, the USMNT has advanced five times out of seven shootouts.

  • All games in the 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup will utilize a video assistance referee.
